Elderly woman dies in two-vehicle crash in rural Bay County
Apr 11, 2018About 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, Bay County Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash site at the intersection of Nine Mile Road and Seidlers Road in Beaver Township. They arrived to find a silver Dodge Neon and a maroon Chevrolet Impala in a ditch on Nine Mile Road, Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham said.Deputies determined the Neon, driven by 75-year-old Patricia S. Kuch, had been traveling east on Seidlers Road. Kuch ran a stop sign and pulled in front of the Impala as it traveled north on Nine Mile, causing the collision, Cunningham said.Beaver Township firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extract Kuch from the Neon. Mobile Medical Response transported Kuch to McLaren Bay Region hospital, where staff pronounced her deceased.Investigators believe Kuch was not wearing her seat belt, Cunningham said. The 21-year-old male driver of the Impala and his 20-year-old female passenger were treated and released at the scene, Cunningham said.Kuch was predeceased by husband Floyd Kuch in 1992, according to her obituary."Pat was a very independent woman and was not afraid to build or repair anything that needed attention," her obituary states. "She was known to many as 'Grandma Pat' because of her loving and caring nature. She loved her furbabies Alfred, Dezzy, and Abby."Her funeral is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, 209 S. Huron Road in Kawkawlin. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Thursday."The family would also like to thank those at McLaren-Bay ER for everything they did," the obituary states. (MLive.com)
